Traffic plan for Brande (Ikast-Brande Municipality, DK) VIA UC - Horsens (Denmark) - June 2009
There were two main parts in the final project of Civil Engineering degree in DK:
creation of Traffic plan for town Brande in Denmark in order to prevent potential problems occur due to the expected growth of the city. Public transportation issues, vehicles flows, environmental aspects and security on the road for the drivers, cyclists and pedestrians were investigated. The planning and new solutions represented Traffic plan for the area. Children safety, handicaps facilities and security on the road were as well studied out and analyzed.
designing of a junction. For that case a signalized junction with three legs has been chosen to be observed, calculated and afterwards designed as a roundabout. Necessary counting, calculations in different manners (manual, DanKap software and VISSIM software) have been used. Furthermore, material' analysis were performed, as well as future roundabout' section and necessary plans. The structural components of the road were found by using catalogue method. For the required space fulfillments the NovaPoint software has been used.
As mentioned before in previous projects, agendas and minutes meeting with project' supervisor (engineer of COWI Vibeke Bjerregaard Poulsen), professors and other involved external parties were as well presented together with project journal with all the daily activities. That details are very important for the Danish education, where people know how to plan the projects, how to follow it and how to consider risks and possible delays.
There are example of NovaPoint analysis for roundabout right leg (the track), the dimention plan of roundabout and VISSIM Simulation of counted trafic on designed junction illustrated below:
